The 1950’s were a time of tremendous economic, social, demographic, and cultural change in the United States. Nowhere was that change more vividly captured than in the transition in popular music. During the 50s, music moved away from the Big Band sound of the 40’s to the power vocal style of the early part of the decade. During the mid fifties, the music industry saw a proliferation of styles that cross-pollinated to give us DooWop, Folk, and Rock N Roll. This show takes you on a musical journey from 1950 through 1959 and features 24 iconic songs that guides the audience through this transitional decade.
In addition to 24 great songs, the audience will hear an informative commentary between numbers that will educate and entertain with facts and trivia about the political, technological, social and cultural changes as the decade progressed. In addition, the commentary includes interesting facts about each song, the artists, and the songwriters who wrote them.
About the performer, Norm Crouse: After a long career in training and development, Norm retired to enjoy small town life in the Upstate of South Carolina.
